BlackOut

Can You Cope?

This is not a game you play at a table. It is a game you live. When the card says the power has failed, you go to the fuse board and turn it off. 54 cards. Real failures. Real skills. Your household survives — or it doesn't.

🎭

Laughter & Chaos

The absurdity of a modern family trying to boil water on a fire they built themselves. Comedy arises naturally from incompetence.

🔥

Genuine Learning

First aid, fire-lighting, sewing, food preservation, water purification. You walk away having actually done these things.

🎲

Strategic Challenge

Manage your shared lives. Prioritise under cascading failures. Every decision costs something — the question is what.

📖

Family Stories

A rotating Game Master narrates the scenarios. Your household generates its own unforgettable moments — no two games are alike.

How It Works

Choose a game duration — anywhere from three hours to a full weekend. Curate a deck to match. A die determines when the next card is drawn. When it lands, you live it: the electricity fails, someone has a cardiac arrest, the supermarket shelves are empty. Your household must cope using the practical skills your great-grandparents took for granted.

Fail a task and the group loses lives from a shared pool. When the lives are gone, the household hasn't survived. Every player matters. Every skill counts. Having fun isn't optional — it's survival infrastructure.

What's in the Box

54 game cards across eight categories — infrastructure failures, household breakdowns, service collapses, first aid emergencies, practical survival skills, and three types of joker that can rescue you or ruin your day. Plus a six-sided die, life tokens, a quick-reference card, and a rules booklet.

You'll also need: a non-electric timer, a sealed bag for surrendered phones, a pen and paper for the game diary, and your house — along with everything in it.
